Today I am grateful for....

God showing me that there is beauty in even the most uncomfortable and cold situations.

It has been one heck of a day.

Unfortunately, I learned that my 'fiance' of almost two years had put up a profile on a popular dating site claiming he was looking for someone.

No, it's not a rumor and yes, I have proof.

Though I am unbelievably hurt and angry, God is here with me.

I didn't know why He led me to those particular plants to photograph them this afternoon, but now I see that He was showing me that I am just as strong as they are.

They have withstood this cold and painful time of winter and are still there....

waiting...

for the sun to shine down on them and fill them with the warmth they need to begin growing and flourishing again.

So am I.

Today I am grateful for....

My Mom !!

Today is my mom's birthday! 

How can I describe my mother?  She is much quieter than me but she has learned to appreciate my sense of humor.  She is more tolerant than me in some things but watch out when she loses her temper (this happens very rarely). She is giving and loving and everyone who knows her just adores her.

She has been an amazing mother to me and now I know what a hard job that is.  Especially since she cursed me with the "I hope your kids are just like YOU!" voodoo!

Stray Cats !!

Tyrone is a stray cat that has the most awesome attitude and softest fur.  He has made Chad his own person.  And Tyrone makes Chad happy.

My Prayer For Today, 1-6-10

Dear Father in Heaven...

I have embarked on a journey to read through your Word in 90 Days.  So far, I have completed the book of Genesis.  Though I have read this book before, it has become like new to me.  I will never cease to be thankful for your gift of creation.

What amazing imagination and artistry you showed in the world!  How beautiful! I can only imagine what the Garden of Eden looked like.. in the beginning, untouched, undefiled....

Even now, in this day and age, the beauty of the world You created for us to live in is breathtaking.

Thank you, Lord, for the world you have provided for us.

Father, I am struggling to find the quiet time to pray. There is so much going on around me at all times, so much noise and distraction... I have a million things I want to talk to you about, but every time a thought forms, something interrupts. Someone needs my attention, someone blasts the TV, someone or something completely distracts me.  Even right now...

Father, please help me find the stillness of thought I need to complete a prayer to you.  A real prayer, a heart-felt prayer.  Not just me rushing through a bunch of words that I do not even remember once I am done because of all the goings-on around me.

Thank you, Father for helping me to pray.
In Jesus Name I pray....

Silly, maybe, but sometimes I just like to do something a little different!  And flattening out my headful of natural waves and curls is one way to accomplish that without too much trouble!

God's Word

This is a picture of my Devotions Basket.  Inside are my Bible, A Daily Bible, my prayer journal, a couple devotionals, pens, index cards and a little case of stationery & envelopes just in case God calls to mind someone who needs a special 'pick me up'.

This is something that I just created a couple days ago.  I really need to get back into the Word.  I make time for everything else, so I have no excuses.  Even if it's just 15 minutes a day.

I have signed up to read through the Bible in 90 days with Mom's ToolBox.  I will be blogging through my experiences at Clutter-Free Me!
